About Us
Starfibco Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd (“Starfibco”) was founded in 2009, when a need was identified for a local manufacturer of flexible, intermediate containers, known as bulk bags. Using one of the best South African fabric manufacturers high quality polypropylene fabric, Starfibco designs and manufactures bulk bags that its customers in the mining, agriculture and food processing industries, among others, use to store and transport material in powder, granule or any other smaller form.
Starfibco is well-known in the South African market for producing bulk bags of outstanding quality.
Starfibco was founded when Mr Ulrichshofer joined forces with Claro Bermundez, a flexible, intermediate, bulk container (FIBC) designer and bag manufacturer. With over 40 years of experience in the bag manufacturing industry, Mr Bermundez recognised the superior quality of its supplier’s woven polypropylene fabric that could be used to manufacture specialised bulk bags and together he and Mr Ulrichshofer established Starfibo.

Starfibco specialises in manufacturing flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBC) known as bulk bags. From its small scale beginnings manufacturing speciality bags for selected clients, the company is now fully equipped to produce the high quality bulk bags in large volumes.
Extensive product range
Starfibco produces a wide variety of bulk bags, from different style panel bags and webbing loops, to tubular bags with various filling options and discharge spouts. The company also manufactures other bulk bags such as baffle and sling bags, which are made from heavy-duty fabric. The wide variety ensures Starfibco can meet all customers needs.
In-house bag testing facilit
Starfibco has a strict in-house bag stress testing process. Bags are subjected to various tests, namely the top lift test, stacking test, tear test and drop test. Passing all these tests, Starfibco has successfully achieved accreditation to manufacture bags with a 6.1 safety factor as required by United Nations.
Our History
The owners of Polystar Tape & Fabric, woven Polypropylene extrusion and weaving, encourage and finance the opening of a small specialized Bulk Bag manufacturing factory. The intention is to manufacture niche market products and provide solutions for special bag requests.
Starfibco is known for its outstanding quality and service in South Africa. More demand for bags from customers requires more floor space and investment in modern machinery as well as training of more personal. Finally, a factory to manufacture 30000 bulk bags per month was established.
A further investment for expansion was carried out through a contract to supply underground mining support bags to local platinum and gold mines. Dedicated machines were designed and build in house to manufacture the required products.
StarFIBCo Manufacturers CC transforms into StarFIBCo Manufacturers (Pty) Ltd and achieves Level 2 BBEEE contributor status. The factory has grown to production capacity for sixty thousand (60 000) bulk bags per month and is now exporting products across borders to sub-Saharan countries.
StarFIBCo Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd now under new leadership after retirement of the founders. The company has sailed successful through economic and corona crisis and is going stronger than ever into a new area. Highly trained, hardworking staff and managers are still driving this dynamic and efficient team.

2008
StarFIBCo Manufacturers CC was founded

2012
StarFIBCo Manufacturers moves to new Premises
Starfibco is known for its outstanding quality and service in South Africa. More demand for bags from customers requires more floor space and investment in modern machinery as well as training of more personal. Finally, a factory to manufacture 30000 bulk bags per month was established.
2016
StarFIBCo Manufacturers expands again
A further investment for expansion was carried out through a contract to supply underground mining support bags to local platinum and gold mines. Dedicated machines were designed and build in house to manufacture the required products.
2018
StarFIBCo Manufacturers CC converts to PTY LTD
StarFIBCo Manufacturers CC transforms into StarFIBCo Manufacturers (Pty) Ltd and achieves Level 2 BBEEE contributor status. The factory has grown to production capacity for sixty thousand (60 000) bulk bags per month and is now exporting products across borders to sub-Saharan countries.
